Broderick has worked with several high-impact and high-profile brands throughout his career - including MTV Networks, VH1 Networks, Turner Entertainment Networks, Columbia Pictures, Marvel, Screen Gems, Tyler Perry Studios, AT&T Mobility, Coca-Cola, and Regions Bank.

Maneuvering through the Florida, New York and Georgia markets, Broderick uncovered his passion for Multicultural Marketing. Currently, his firm services diverse clients in telecommunications, legal, food, home, manufacturing, education, beauty, and media industries. Broderick anticipates continued growth into new areas and looks forward to making his mark on Atlanta.

Career History

 

Since I was a kid in Southwest Atlanta, I've been a connector--the bridge between communities, cultures and creative ideas. As an adult, I have harnessed that trait into a career as an entrepreneur and strategic brand consultant. Companies like Columbia Pictures, Marvel, ScreenGems, Tyler Perry Studios, AT&T Mobility, and Coca-Cola rely on my expertise to connect them to what is relevant when it comes to culture. 

My company, The Authentique Agency (hyperlink), focuses on leveraging the power of identity and is intentional about creating brand campaigns that genuinely reflect multicultural and LGBTQ life, voices and viewpoints.

Lightbulb Moment

After working for a few entertainment brands and hearing top executives say things like “this place is too small of a pond for a shark like you,” I decided to leave corporate life and go over to the agency world. I joined an Atlanta based marketing agency as an Account Executive, I thought I found my happy place: there were black people and good laughs at a company that appeared to accept my full identity unapologetically.  Nineteen months after doubling the department's revenue through business development with their clients, I decided to reach into my network for additional agency opportunities. Once, I had my employer selected to bid on a project campaign against social assault for the City of Atlanta.  My agency leadership turned it down due to estimated profits, even though I assured the budget would grow and our exclusivity as the only firm in the state to be selected. After hearing no as the final decision, I continued to change perspectives and push the organization's limits. It included a conversation where my CEO admitted that he did not understand the “diversity thing” and “why I was so passionate about it.” While the comment was shocking and influenced my decision to leave the company, it was ultimately the lightbulb I needed to leap. Months later, I started my own consulting firm to position African Americans as trend/culture influencers and assert that we hold subject matter expertise. At my firm, we fight against misconceptions through the work we do in the marketing space one project at a time. The lessons I learned over the years pushed me to follow my purpose and ensure my legacy is intact vs. working in the guardrails of someone else’s dream or mindset.

Boring, Expected, Unprofessional, Inconsistent. My primary concern is making sure my clients do not question benchmarks and end-goals. I know how it feels to lose sleep over follow-through and failures. So, I work to avoid those feelings for my clients at all costs.
